A routine traffic stop for **101 MPH in a 75 MPH zone** quickly escalated into a dangerous high-speed pursuit across multiple Arkansas counties. According to the Arkansas State Police, the driver of a white Honda Accord initially pulled over before suddenly accelerating away, leading troopers on a chase that reached speeds of more than **130 MPH**. During the pursuit, the suspect allegedly made aggressive lane changes, passed vehicles on both shoulders of the interstate, forced another motorist off the roadway, and continued fleeing into the streets of Little Rock. The pursuit ended after the driver abandoned the Honda in a residential neighborhood and ran from troopers on foot. An Arkansas State Police trooper deployed a TASER, bringing the foot pursuit to an end and taking the suspect into custody. Investigators identified the driver as **Rodney Shavers**. Troopers reported observing signs of intoxication, including bloodshot eyes, the odor of alcohol, and difficulty walking. According to the arrest report, Shavers refused a breath test and allegedly admitted he was drunk. An open container of tequila was also recovered from inside the vehicle. Authorities said a front-seat passenger and a **2-month-old infant** were inside the Honda during the pursuit. Both were evaluated by paramedics and were not injured. Due to the presence of the child, the Arkansas Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS) responded to the scene. Shavers was booked into the Jefferson County Detention Center and faces numerous charges, including felony fleeing, kidnapping, first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, driving while intoxicated (2nd offense), refusing a chemical test, reckless driving, and several additional traffic-related offenses.
