A 911 call about a man screaming in the street. A taser that didn't work. And a knife that never got put down. On August 31, 2026, Salt Lake City officers responded to a report of a "violent psychiatric problem" near a Burger King on 400 South. They found a man matching the description and told him to sit down — he refused, tried to walk away, and encountered a second group of officers. That's when he brandished a knife. An officer deployed a taser: four probes, fired directly at him, all ineffective. He ran, dodged a patrol vehicle attempting to cut him off, and continued brandishing the knife — at which point two officers fired, striking him. He survived with non-life-threatening injuries. This is the full body-worn camera footage from all four responding officers, released directly by Salt Lake City Police Department. ⚠️ The man in this footage, Ryan Fowers, survived this shooting with non-life-threatening injuries. Protocol Team 2, led by the Unified Police Department — a separate agency from SLCPD — conducted an independent investigation into the shooting. As of this release, no findings had been made public. 📁 Chapters: 0:00 – Cold open 0:10 – Disclaimer 0:45 – The Call 1:19 – Officers Respond 2:23 – The Standoff 2:45 – The Taser 3:14 – The Chase 4:03 – The Shooting 4:28 – The Charges 4:48 – What Happened Next 5:08 – Outro 🎥 Footage: Salt Lake City Police Department, released in compliance with city ordinance 2.10.200.
