Police bodycam from Montgomery County, Maryland: a suspect opens fire on a Montgomery County police officer during a foot chase through an apartment complex, and the officer returns fire. This officer-involved shooting police bodycam footage was released by the Montgomery County Department of Police as a Critical Incident Community Briefing. On Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at about 4:51 PM, 6th District officers were patrolling the Off Price Center on Contour Road in Montgomery Village after repeated complaints about robberies, drug activity, weapons violations and assaults. Officers spotted a known drug user in the parking lot. Andre Duvall, 27, of Germantown, walked up, noticed the marked cruiser, and walked away across Contour Road. When an officer and his training partner tried to stop him, he ran into the apartment complex. The officer identified himself as county police and chased him on foot. As the officer turned the corner of a building, Duvall fired multiple shots at him. The officer took cover behind a tree. Duvall fired again from the far side of the building and kept moving. The officer returned fire, striking him in the upper torso and leg. Officers moved in, took him into custody, requested medical assistance and began first aid until Montgomery County Fire & Rescue arrived. A handgun was recovered at the scene. OUTCOME: Duvall was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, treated and released, and is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. He is charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault and firearms violations. He is prohibited from possessing firearms because of prior convictions. No officers or bystanders were injured. The officer who fired is on administrative leave per department procedure, and the Major Crimes Division is investigating. Charges are allegations until proven in court.
