On April 20th, 2025, police responded to a suspicious person call at an Ace Hardware. Employees reported a man was making them uncomfortable by mumbling and "walking around the store in an erratic manner." When officers made contact, the man "immediately became defiant." After refusing to provide ID inside, he eventually gave officers a fake name and date of birth outside the store. Dispatch quickly advised officers that the name was a known alias for him, and that he had an active warrant for FTA DUI. This bodycam shows the moments officers advised him he was under arrest for his warrant. He became "verbally and physically aggressive," tensing his arms and interlocking his fingers to prevent being cuffed. The encounter quickly devolved into a physical struggle, forcing officers to perform a "high-low takedown". The suspect continued to resist on the ground, requiring three officers to use control techniques and wrist locks to secure him. After being placed in the squad car, he began kicking the window and "bashing his forehead on the glass window". He was arrested for his warrant and charged with Obstructing Identification and Resisting Arrest.
