On November 13, 2024, Santa Fe County Sheriff's Lt. Garcia observed a vehicle allegedly drift left and straddle the center lane lines on Highway US 84/285. Lt. Garcia initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by a 39-year-old woman who claimed she just got off from work. She initially denied consuming any alcohol and when asked to exit her vehicle, she stated, "I'm going to jail". She was asked to submit to field sobriety testing and throughout the process, she thought it would be better to just be arrested than complete the tests. Eventually, she was placed under arrest for Driving While Under the Influence. She refused to provide breath samples and was booked into the Santa Fe Adult Detention Center. Online court records indicate her charges were immediately dismissed by the prosecutor. However, charges were refiled on October 2, 2025, and her case is still open. Her next court date is March 16, 2026.
