The incident occurred on February 24 at approximately 10:40 p.m. when Denver police responded to the area after multiple ShotSpotter alerts. A resident who called 911 reported hearing gunshots and saw a group of individuals on scooters and bikes fleeing along Lowell. Officers later located four juvenile males on scooters near West 13th Avenue and Knox Court and followed them into Paco Sanchez Park. One officer recognized a 17-year-old among the group as a suspect in a shooting earlier that month in southwest Denver, where shots had been fired into a home while people were inside. The officer spotted the teen holding a gun in his right hand and ordered him to drop it. According to police, the teen then “turned his shoulder” toward the officer, who responded by firing 10 rounds. Moments later, police caught up to the teen, who was seen on the ground with blood on the sidewalk. The officer twice ordered him to drop the gun. “I don’t have a gun, sir,” the teen can be heard saying. “You guys shot me for nothing.” Officers applied a tourniquet to his leg before he was transported to the hospital, where he remains in treatment but is expected to recover Investigators later recovered a Glock along the park path with one round in the chamber and a separate magazine elsewhere in the park. The teen is currently in custody on suspicion of attempted murder related to the earlier shooting. Another teen, seen fleeing in the video, was also arrested on suspicion of weapons charges after officers found him in possession of a Glock with an extended magazine and an auto sear, which converts it into an automatic weapon. 0:00 - Preview 0:04 - Events Description 0:50 - Shooting #Denver #Shooting #PoliceIncident #GunViolence #CrimeNews #BreakingNews #DenverPolice #TeenSuspect #LawEnforcement #PublicSafety #DenverCrime #PoliceShooting #GunControl #CrimeReport #JuvenileCrime #SelfDefense #CrimeAlert #NewsUpdate #LocalNews #LawAndOrder #SecondAmendment #PoliceInvestigation #ShootingSuspect #PublicAlert #BreakingCrimeNews Disclaimer: The following content contains graphic scenes of violence that may be disturbing to some viewers.
