On November 5, 2023, in Appleton, Wisconsin, officers were dispatched to a local hospital due to reports of a man who was refusing to leave after being medically cleared. It was noted that the man had several law enforcement contacts for disturbances prior to this incident. The man, named Keith, appeared to be sleeping for a few minutes while police tried to wake him and get him out of the hospital. Eventually they were able to get him out and escort him out of the hospital. He stated that it was "cold" and did not want to leave, he also stated he had to use the restroom despite using it around 15 minutes earlier according to hospital staff. Keith did not leave the premises and continually tried to get back into the hospital, however, police blocked his path. He eventually was placed under arrest and taken to the ground. Officers escorted him to a squad car where he requested multiple times for the officers to remove the handcuffs from his wrists before he got into the vehicle. Police stated multiple times they could not do this. Finally, they were able to get him in the squad. Keith was charged with and found guilty of resisting or obstructing an officer.
