On July 9, 2025, at approximately 12 p.m., Police Officers Aaron Font responded to ACME, 614 Clinton St., on reports of a shoplifting where the actor was seen taking two steaks, putting them in his pockets, and leaving without paying. Sgt. William Collins spotted a man who fit the description walking on Madison Street near Sixth Street. Police Officers Font and Ramon Estrella arrived. The man, later identified as 30-year-old Edgar Najera of Hoboken, was stopped and officers could see a steak in his possession. He was subsequently found to have the second as well. A search incident to arrest located a metal push rod, a glass cylindrical tube with burnt steel wool, and as a small caplet with white powder residue commonly used for the purposes of concealing CDS. Najera was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with shoplifting and possession of CDS paraphernalia. These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. An arrest is not a finding of guilt: that’s something for a court to decide.
