On April 13, 2025, Officers with the Santa Fe Police Department contacted the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office about a crashed Mercedes SUV that was blocking a portion of US Highway 84/285. Deputy Thomas arrived first to find an 18-year-old woman sitting in the back of one of the Santa Fe Police Department's vehicles. She admitted to drinking shots until midnight and staying up all night. She was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which led to her being placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence (DUI). She was also charged with Careless Driving because she crashed her vehicle. She provided two breath samples, which both registered 0.06% BAC (over the legal amount for someone under the age of 21). On April 8, 2026, her charges were dismissed by the prosecutor without prejudice.
