On February 6, 2025, New Orleans police were investigating the theft of multiple vehicles stolen earlier that day. Around 5:11 p.m., the suspect, later identified as 20-year-old Jaquan Dominick, was seen driving a stolen Kia alongside his accomplices in a stolen Nissan Sentra. The group was cruising down the Claiborne Bridge toward Poland Avenue in Bywater, NOPD officers stopped the Nissan Sentra at the base of the bridge and arrested passengers Destiny Jefferson, 19, Kendall Burrell, 19, and a 14-year-old boy, on suspicion of illegal possession of stolen things. Upon spotting multiple police officers, Dominick "forced his way off the bridge by colliding with a vehicle in front of him while an officer stood in his path," according to reports. One officer managed to jump out of the way, but a second had no time to react before Dominick struck him with the Kia’s front right panel. That officer went to a hospital with minor injuries. Three officers fired upon Dominick, striking the Kia multiple times and hitting Dominick in the right shoulder. Dominick was arrested last Wednesday, nearly a week after the incident, and charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, along with 18 additional charges ranging from armed robbery to simple assault. 0:00 - Intro 0:21 - Officer #1 bodycam 0:50 - Crime center camera footage 1:41 - Suspect's car hits the officer 2:05 - Officer #2 bodycam 3:15 - Aftermath #NewOrleans #NOPD #CrimeNews #CarTheft #BreakingNews #PoliceChase #SuspectShot #CrimeReport #LawEnforcement #PublicSafety #StolenCar #NOPDUpdate #CrimeSpree #NewsUpdate #LocalNews Disclaimer: The following content contains graphic scenes of violence that may be disturbing to some viewers.
