On October 4, 2024, Euclid Police Officers Goodheart and Hankins observed the driver of a vehicle commit several traffic violations. They initiated a stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by a 42-year-old woman. She claimed that she was heading home after bartending at a local restaurant. However, her speech was heavily slurred and Officer Goodheart suspected that she was intoxicated. The woman was asked to recite part of the English alphabet, but she refused. She was then instructed to exit her vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. During the tests, she demanded her attorney. She was placed under arrest for Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI) and escorted to the back of the patrol car. She then became very belligerent and obnoxious. Officer Goodheart discovered that she had 4 previous drunk driving arrests. After indicating that she wanted to harm herself, she was transported to the local hospital.
