On March 12, 2025, officers were dispatched after reports of a van parked on the street for several days with people believed to be living inside. When officers arrived, they located a man in the driver’s seat and a woman in the passenger seat. As police made contact, the situation quickly escalated. The driver refused commands, locked the doors, and continued reaching inside the vehicle. Officers attempted to remove him by force. During the struggle, a female officer’s body camera fell to the ground, capturing the confrontation through audio. The female passenger also refused to comply, reaching around the cabin and resisting removal. She was eventually taken into custody as well. A search of the vehicle uncovered cannabis edibles, concentrated wax, and jars of dried plant material — all of which tested positive for THC. Both occupants were arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Resisting an Officer.
