On August 24, 2024, Officers from the Ocean City Police Department were in the area of the 12th Street Wawa Store investigating a complaint that a 25-year-old woman took her boyfriend's truck without permission and was possibly driving intoxicated. Officers located a truck matching the description and made contact with the woman. She immediately admitted to being drunk, so she was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests. At the conclusion of the tests, she was placed under arrest for Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of Liquor. The police report indicates she submitted to a breath alcohol test and the result was 0.10% BAC. Online court records indicate she pleaded guilty to the charge on November 19, 2024, and was fined $640.00. She was ordered to spend 12 hours at an Intoxicated Driver's Resource Center and she was required to install an Ignition Interlock Device on her vehicle for 3 months.
