November 29, 1970. A father and his two daughters were hiking through Isdalen — a remote Norwegian valley locals call Death Valley — when they discovered the burned body of a woman among the rocks. Her face was unrecognisable. Every label on her clothing had been cut off. Every identifying mark removed. At the train station, police found two abandoned suitcases. Inside — multiple wigs, disguises, and evidence of at least six different identities she had used to check into hotels across Norway: Genevieve Lancier. Claudia Tielt. Claudia Nielsen. Alexia Zarne-Merchez. Vera Jarle. Elisabeth Leenhouwfr. None of them were her real name. She had traveled across Europe for months before her death — Norway, France, Switzerland — always changing her name, always erasing her trail. Bergen, where she died, was home to a classified Norwegian missile system being tested at the height of the Cold War. Intelligence agencies later confirmed spies were active in the area. Was she a spy? A member of an international criminal organisation? Or something else entirely? ─────────────────────────────── In 1971, she was buried in a zinc coffin — preserved — in case someone ever came forward to identify her. No one ever did. The Isdal Woman's real identity remains unknown to this day. ─────────────────────────────── The full investigation — including the Cold War spy theory, the Swiss banker connection, and the DNA evidence — is coming soon.
