On May 14, 2025, in Palm Beach County, Florida, a deputy attempted a routine stop on a man riding a bicycle without a front light. But the man had other plans. What began as a minor traffic infraction quickly spiraled into a full-blown pursuit through parking lots and alleyways. The suspect, later identified as Edwin Murillo Smith, tried to flee on foot after crashing his bicycle — only to be dropped by a taser behind a Wawa. He didn’t go quietly. Edwin resisted, was struck in the face, and was eventually detained with help from backup. A search uncovered two used crack pipes on his person. Edwin now faces multiple charges, including felony fleeing and eluding, resisting an officer, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
