Lakewood Police bodycam footage shows officers responding to a shoplifting call at Burlington Coat Factory in Lakewood, Washington. The detention quickly turns into a resisting arrest struggle near the store exit. On Monday, March 11, 2024, at about 5:24 PM, officers were dispatched to Burlington Coat Factory in Lakewood for a shoplift in progress. When officers made contact, they reported the suspect was past the final point of purchase, store alarms were sounding, and employees were pointing him out. Officers moved to detain Antonio Spivey, and reported he tensed up and pulled away, leading to a takedown and a prolonged effort to get his hands under control. After he was handcuffed, fire/medics were requested to evaluate him. During the search incident to arrest, officers reported locating a kitchen knife and recovering a duffel bag of clothing with tags/security devices still attached. The reported recovered merchandise value was about $106. Charges listed in the arrest paperwork: Theft (3rd degree/shoplifting) and Resisting Arrest, along with a trespass notice.
