On May 26, 2025, Pullman Police Sgt. Padrta responded to the Walmart after loss prevention personnel had detailed two alleged shoplifters. After being read their Miranda Rights, the 29-year-old woman admitted to stealing nearly $400.00 worth of items because she didn't have the money to pay for them. Sgt. Padrta used his unique blend of humor and sarcasm to question why they needed to steal a JBL speaker. Both individuals were arrested and transported to the Pullman Police Station where they were fingerprinted, photographed, and cited for theft (3rd degree).
