On March 25, 2024. A deputy from the Crawford County Sheriff's Department received information that there was a male going around town running over street sign posts with his truck and then stealing the sign. The deputy called the suspect and he agreed to meet at a gas station for questioning. The man admitted to running over and stealing the road signs, he said that a few stop signs were located at his house and that his friends were in possession of some of the other signs. The deputy explained that it would be less expensive for the man to turn over the signs to law enforcement rather than have to pay restitution for brand new signs to be installed. The man agreed and led the deputy to his house to retrieve the stolen signs. A few days later, the deputy went back to the man's house to retrieve a cattle crossing sign and to deliver his citations. The suspect was found guilty for Failure to Notify Police of Accident, Hit and Run, Operating Left of Center, 3 counts of Theft-Movable Property, and 5 counts of Criminal Damage to Property. He was ordered to pay over $4400 in fines and restitution. This video is for educational purposes only.
