On October 7th, 2023, an officer in Ohio was on patrol when a black Chevy was observed running a red light at a local intersection. The officer followed the vehicle as it pulled into the driveway of a residence. The female driver exited the vehicle before the officer approached her, leading to a direct interaction. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer noted signs of intoxication, including slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol. The driver told the officer she did not know she had ran a red light, stating she was unsure where she was coming from. Despite the officer asking the driver how much she had had to drink, she stated she had come from a friend's house, later admitting to having a shot of liquor. The driver refused to undergo Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs), asserting that she was already home and the vehicle was not in operation. The officer, citing probable cause, placed the suspect under arrest for OVI. During the arrest, the suspect was informed of her rights and the legal consequences of refusing a breath test, to which she remained uncooperative and refused to comply. The suspect refused to sign the necessary paperwork and grabbed the officer’s pen from her hands. Consequently, she was transported to jail.
