Shocking police bodycam footage reveals the disturbing moments when a child fell from a moving car as her parents attempted to flee from police at a North Las Vegas gas station. On July 20, 2025 around 1:55 p.m., North Las Vegas police responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle parked at a gas pump with two adults, three children, and a dog inside. Officers approached the black Honda Accord and spoke with 31-year-old Auftan Green, who was standing outside the driver’s door. Moments later, Green got back into the car and attempted to flee the scene. As Green sped away, one of the young children fell from the moving vehicle, suffering minor injuries. Bodycam footage shows an officer rushing to rescue the child. Meanwhile, the mother, 37-year-old Kristal Leavitt, initially ran toward the child but then tried to get back in the car to escape — abandoning the child entirely. Officers detained her before she could flee. Green then circled the lot and drove back at a high rate of speed toward officers, Leavitt, and the child. One officer narrowly avoided being struck. Another officer, standing in front of the car, fired five rounds at Green, striking him in the torso. Despite being hit, Green continued driving, hitting the officer in the leg before crashing into a median on East Tropical Parkway. Inside the vehicle, officers discovered heroin, methamphetamine, and a firearm. Neither adult had legal custody of the children. All three children were evaluated at a local hospital and taken into the custody of Child Protective Services. The dog in the car was secured by Animal Protective Services. Green faces multiple charges including attempted murder with a deadly weapon and child abuse. Leavitt was charged with five counts of child abuse or neglect. Both individuals have extensive criminal histories involving drugs, weapons, and assault. Green remains hospitalized; Leavitt's bail was set at $100,000. Both are due in court on August 7.
