📄 Story tips, resources & support 👉 https://www.thinblueliesmedia.com Submit police accountability tips, bodycam footage, public records, court documents, and local story leads. A Ring camera in Shelby, North Carolina captured a violent police arrest involving Cherrie Moore and former Shelby police officer Karson Hyder. The video appears to show Moore on the ground while one officer repeatedly strikes her and another officer appears to step in. After the footage went viral, Hyder was fired and charged with assault inflicting serious injury. Reports say two charges against Moore — resisting arrest and assault on a public officer — were dismissed, while a breaking-and-entering charge remained pending. Civil rights attorney Ben Crump is now representing Moore and says she was experiencing a mental health crisis during the encounter. This case raises a bigger question: Without the doorbell camera, what would the official version have looked like? Because once again, public video did what internal accountability too often fails to do — it showed everyone what happened before the paperwork became the only story.
