Riviera Beach Police Department officers were dispatched to an apartment on Avenue E following an anonymous disturbance call from a neighbor. Upon arrival, they found a 13-year-old girl who alleged her mother, Monica Hightower, had physically attacked her. The girl presented with visible injuries including a split lip and multiple marks across her body. She told officers her mother had grabbed her by the hair, dragged her, and struck her in the face multiple times. Monica told a different story — claiming her daughter had initiated the physical confrontation and that she had only acted in self-defense.
