On April 3, 2024, officers with the Marion Police Department stopped a vehicle on Interstate 57 for a missing license-plate light. What should have been a routine traffic stop quickly escalated. Police bodycam footage shows the driver growing increasingly nervous as officers questioned the occupants. A K-9 unit was deployed, and after a positive alert, officers searched the vehicle. What they uncovered shocked even seasoned officers: 33 pounds of a Schedule Il drug, valued at more than $5.6 million. All three occupants were arrested and charged with drug trafficking and possession with intent to deliver. This video captures the entire encounter from stop to seizure on real police bodycam footage.
