**Crittenden County, Arkansas** — A routine speeding stop on Interstate 55 turned into a dangerous high-speed pursuit after a driver allegedly shifted into drive and fled, reaching triple-digit speeds and narrowly avoiding other motorists before an Arkansas State Police trooper performed a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI). On August 8, 2026, a trooper was traveling northbound on I-55 near the 10-mile marker when he observed a silver Honda Insight traveling at **95 mph in a posted 75 mph zone**. After catching up to the vehicle, the trooper observed the driver following another motorist too closely and initiated a traffic stop near the 12-mile marker. As the trooper approached the Honda, the driver suddenly shifted into drive and took off. The trooper immediately notified communications and pursued the vehicle as it accelerated to **triple-digit speeds**, repeatedly changing lanes and creating dangerous situations for surrounding motorists. During the pursuit, the Honda nearly rear-ended another vehicle before abruptly changing lanes. Near Exit 14, the suspect continued fleeing at triple-digit speeds, entered the exit ramp, crowded another vehicle, and then continued northbound on the service road in the southbound lane before merging back onto I-55. With heavy traffic ahead and the fleeing vehicle continuing to pose an immediate danger to other motorists, the trooper performed a **Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI)**. The maneuver forced the Honda off the roadway, where it struck a cable barrier in the roadside ditch before continuing onto the I-55 service road. The vehicle came to rest with disabling damage. The driver, identified as **Kelly Williams**, was taken into custody after Trooper Rafael Garcia arrived and gained compliance. Williams was transported to the Crittenden County Detention Center. According to the report, Williams later showed all six clues during the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus portion of a standardized field sobriety test.
