Body camera video from the Marana Police Department of the fatal officer involved shooting of Juan Padilla. Location: Tucson, Pima County, Arizona, United States Date: March 31, 2019 (Sunday) Marana Police Department: **4/1/19 Update-Officer Involved Shooting** The Marana Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred in the 7400 block of W. Crimson Ridge Dr. On March 31, 2019, at approximately 7:58 a.m., the Marana Police Department (MPD) received a 911 call from an adult female reference an unknown problem occurring inside the residence. The preliminary information received was a male suspect inside the home was stabbing another male. Further information was relayed that the male suspect was stabbing the female 911 caller as well. An MPD officer arrived on-scene at approximately 8:01 a.m. An adult male victim with obvious critical wounds was located in the front yard on the ground. This male indicated that two additional people were inside the residence, and screaming could be heard coming from within the house. The patrol officer entered the residence and confronted the male suspect on top of the female 911 caller. The female had already sustained obvious critical wounds. The patrol officer gave commands for the male suspect to drop his knife, which was ignored. During the confrontation between the officer and suspect, the officer discharged his duty handgun, striking the male suspect. Despite life-saving efforts by MPD officers and Northwest Fire District (NWFD) personnel, the suspect succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on-scene. The suspect has been identified as Juan Padilla, 24yo. Next of kin have been notified. A photograph of Mr. Padilla has been attached to this post. The patrol officer was not injured during this incident. No additional suspects are outstanding. NWFD transported the male victim and female victim to a local trauma hospital. MPD detectives have taken over the investigation and have processed the scene. It was determined that the male victim lives at the residence.
