On June 18th, 2023, an officer in Ohio was on patrol in a local gas station when he spotted a red Chevy truck with heavily tinted windows pulled into the parking lot. The officer noted the driver's side window was so darkly tinted that visibility into the passenger compartment was significantly obstructed. The officer ran a check on the vehicle's license plate, revealing the registration had expired earlier in the year. As the truck began to leave the parking lot, the officer initiated a traffic stop, leading to a heated exchange with the driver, who exited the vehicle, expressing frustration and alleging profiling. The driver's agitation escalated quickly as she confronted the officer, accusing the stop of being racially motivated. The situation escalated further as another passenger also exited the vehicle, adding to the tension. Despite attempts to calm the situation, the driver became increasingly confrontational, refusing to re-enter her vehicle and disregarding requests to lower her voice. After multiple refusals to de-escalate, the officer began placing the suspect the suspect in handcuffs. The suspect resisted the officer, leading for backup officer to be called to the scene. After eventually being placed in handcuffs the suspect was placed in a patrol car as officers went to speak with other parties. Following the altercation, the driver was transported to a local jail facility, where she faced charges related to the initial traffic violations and her conduct during the stop. The vehicle's window tint was measured, confirming that it significantly exceeded legal limits.
