It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: The clock read 4:10 AM on August 8, 2024. Officer Mateus Serrano patrolled Witherspoon Street. He saw a white Honda CR-V near Valley Road. The car had a bad front tire. Officer Serrano stopped the Honda. It pulled over by the bus stop. He walked to the car. The driver was a woman named Megan. He asked about the tire. Megan said she didn't know what happened. He spoke with Megan and smelled booze. Other signs showed she was not okay. He thought she was drunk. So, he asked her to say the alphabet. Then, he asked her to count down from 88 to 68. She finished those tasks. He then asked her to get out of the car. She had to do some tests to see if she was sober. Officer Lee started with the eye test. He watched Megan's eyes closely. They didn't move smoothly. They jerked at the extreme edge. The jerking started early, before 45 degrees. Next, Officer Serrano gave Megan the Walk and Turn test. She didn't walk heel-to-toe. She forgot to count out loud at first. Finally, Megan tried the One Leg Stand. She couldn't lift her foot right. She wobbled and lost her balance. Megan's night took a turn. Her front tire had major damage. There was also a strong smell of alcohol. She admitted to drinking earlier. Field sobriety tests did not go well. Police arrested Megan for driving while intoxicated. Patrolwoman Lynn searched Megan. The car was searched too. This was part of the arrest process. No open alcohol was found. Megan was taken to the police station. There, police would process her. Patrolwoman Lynn stayed with the car. It was towed. John’s Law required a 12-hour impound. The Princeton police read Megan her rights. She agreed to a breath test. Officer Lee ran the machine. Her BAC was 0.11%, over the 0.08% legal limit. Megan's husband came to the station. He signed a form and took her home. She now awaits her court date. Officer Serrano gave her several tickets. These included DUI, reckless and careless driving. She also got tickets for bad tires and an unsafe vehicle.
