On April 16, 2024, Suwanee Police Officer Carrillo observed a vehicle make a U-turn against a solid red traffic light. Officer Carrillo initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by 24-year-old female rap artist "GloRilla". At one point, GloRilla asked Officer Carrillo, "Do you know who I am?" Officer Carrillo responded that she did not know who the driver was. Because she could smell alcohol and cannabis coming from the vehicle, Officer Carrillo had the driver step out of the vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. GloRilla refused a preliminary breath test, and after being placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence, she also refused to provide breath samples for an evidential breath test.
