Wanted Felon’s Reckless Night Drive Ends In A Disaster Flagler County deputies responded to State Road 100 after a citizen reported a reckless driver swerving across lane lines. Deputies located a blue Ford pickup leaving a RaceTrac gas station with its headlights turned off, exiting through a marked entrance sign, crossing three lanes, and making an illegal U-turn through a red light. During the traffic stop, deputies identified the driver as 60-year-old Howard Johnson. After observing an open beer can on the floorboard and slurred speech, deputies requested field sobriety tests, which Johnson failed to perform. A background check confirmed Johnson was a fugitive from Lake County, Indiana, with four prior DUI convictions and active warrants for narcotics and firearm offenses.
