On March 26, 2022, Monroe County deputies responded to a roadside argument on the Overseas Highway that quickly spiraled out of control when a couple fled into the woods. Officers eventually detained 33-year-old Courtney Kryton, who screamed, refused commands, and violently resisted arrest by spitting, fighting, and attempting to bite deputies. Despite repeated chances to calm down, she escalated the situation into total chaos, all captured on bodycam.
