This gripping documentary chronicles the intense, moment-by-moment efforts of police negotiators during a high-stakes hostage situation in Sydney. A man named Troy, alongside his wife Judy, held people captive in a government office, claiming to have explosives strapped to their bodies and a firearm. His desperate actions were fueled by the removal of his child by welfare services, leading to a complex and emotionally charged standoff. Viewers will witness the critical strategies employed by veteran negotiators like Steve, who faced the immense challenge of de-escalating a volatile situation using only their words, all while a tactical team worked to secretly extract hidden hostages. The film reveals the psychological battle between the police and the unstable hostage-taker, the constant threat of a perceived bomb, and the incredible pressure on all involved to save innocent lives.
