It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: At around 3:35 AM on January 13, 2024, Officer Keith Brown from the Tampa Police Department saw a 2017 Jeep going roughly 75 MPH in a 55 MPH zone on southbound I-275. He turned on his lights to stop the vehicle, which pulled over on the shoulder. The officer approached and spoke with the driver, who was identified as 23-year-old Mya Murdock. While talking to her, Officer Brown noticed signs of possible impairment and detected the smell of alcohol. Mya explained she was heading home after picking up her passenger from SoHo. She denied having drunk too much. Officer Scott Van Treese was called to the scene to conduct field sobriety tests. He arrived around 3:44 AM and asked Mya to step out of the vehicle. Officer Van Treese started with a gaze test called Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus. Then he took her to a nearby Walmart gas station to do additional tests. The first was the Walk and Turn. Mya struggled with the test, failing to touch heel-to-toe and turning incorrectly. Next was the One Leg Stand, where she failed to lift her foot properly. Because of her speeding, признаки of drunkenness, her admitted alcohol use, and her poor performance in the tests, Mya was placed under arrest for DUI. She was taken to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office for more processing. Her breath test showed BAC results of 0.223 and 0.205.
