On Wednesday, December 17, 2025, officers responded to Newk's Eatery in Town Brookhaven after an employee reported that a customer had attempted to pay for his food with what appeared to be a counterfeit $100 bill. Following the call at the restaurant, officers located the suspect nearby across the street. The man became hostile, refused to cooperate, and physically resisted officers, leading to his forcible restraint and arrest. Officers then searched his wallet and belongings, finding additional counterfeit bills and confirming he had no identification on him. Based on the conduct documented in this body camera footage, the following charges could potentially apply: *Forgery / Counterfeiting: For attempting to pay for goods using a fake currency bill ($100 prop money) and possessing additional counterfeit bills. *Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer: For refusing to comply with lawful orders, attempting to walk away, and physically resisting arrest during an investigation. The final charges, if any, are determined by prosecutors based on the available evidence and applicable law. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
