On August 10, 2025, at approximately 1:05 a.m., a California Highway Patrol officer assigned to the Truckee Area was approaching State Route 28 when the officer observed a blue Toyota Corolla traveling at what they described as a high rate of speed. The officer obtained a radar reading of 47 mph in a posted 25 mph zone and initiated a traffic stop. The officer's observed two open alcoholic beverage containers inside the vehicle and detected the odor of alcohol. During their DUI investigation, the driver reportedly told the officer she had consumed one beer at a casino. The CHP officer reported observing red and watery eyes and the odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath. The driver agreed to field sobriety testing and provided two preliminary breath samples, producing results of .110% and .108% BAC. After being arrested, two additional evidentiary breath samples were obtained, with reported results of .10% and .11% BAC. The driver was arrested without further incident and booked into the Nevada County Jail on the following charges: CVC 23152(a) – Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol CVC 23152(b) – Driving With a BAC of .08% or Greater California Highway Patrol Officers involved: Officer B.
