Police bodycam footage from Edgewater, New Jersey shows officers responding to a Tesla crash that led to a DUI arrest. On April 21, 2023, at about 9:58 PM, Sergeant Edward Ring of the Edgewater Police Department responded to a motor vehicle accident on River Road southbound involving a 2022 Tesla Model Y. When officers arrived, they found the Tesla with severe front-end damage and airbags deployed. Police made contact with the driver, identified as Priscilla, and reported signs of possible impairment, including the odor of alcohol. Officers attempted to speak with her and continue their roadside investigation, but she became uncooperative and requested a lawyer. Due to her behavior, the crash circumstances, and other indicators of impairment, officers decided not to perform standardized field sobriety tests at the scene. According to police records, Priscilla was placed under arrest for driving under the influence and transported for processing. She later agreed to provide breath samples, and the Alcotest result was 0.11% BAC, above the legal limit of 0.08%. She was ultimately issued summonses for operating under the influence and careless driving.
