On August 24, 2023, in the Village of Grafton, Wisconsin, officers were dispatched to a local hardware store's parking lot after they received reports of vehicle that was driving recklessly. Officers found the vehicle parked partially on the grass of the parking lot with the driver asleep at the wheel. Officers awoke the man after pounding on the windows and he drove forward momentarily before officers were able to turn off the vehicle and put it into park. It was immediately clear there was an issue with the driver. Initially it was suspected that the driver was either drunk, or suffering from a diabetes related incident. It was found out that he was in fact drunk. Officers wanted to do FST's with the man but he was too intoxicated to walk straight. He was put on a stretcher to be transported to the hospital for medical clearance due to the fact that he could not walk himself. A breath test was administered and resulted in a BAC of 0.269. He was charged with OWI, 5th or 6th, 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety, and operating with prohibited alcohol concentration, 5th or 6th. He was found guilty of OWI and 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety and sentenced to 5 years in state prison. ❓Inquiries: LensOfLaw@gmail.com ☕Support Me: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/lensoflaw 🔗My Links: https://lensoflaw.com The content we highlight is designed to provide a real-life glimpse into the encounters of law enforcement, not to demean or belittle those featured.
