Video of the attack on the deputy: https://youtu.be/j6BD8nI0rhg?si=CZr_DaIa8nl0vsSc One of the NMSP officers report: On March 21, 2022, I New Mexico State Police (NMSP) Officer Greg Ramirez, was in full uniform displaying my badge of office. I was in a marked department issued patrol vehicle. I was in the County of Bernalillo in the State of New Mexico. At approximately 1450 hours., I was given information by NMSP District 5 dispatch a subject by the name of Josh Hall had taken a prisoner transport van from a McKinley County Sherriff Deputy. Dispatch stated the Deputy was having a medical episode, and Mr. Hall left him at the Route 66 Casino. They also said there were two other inmates inside of the transport van. The transport van was described as a black van and was last seen traveling westbound on Interstate 40. I was at the NMSP office in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I received information it was last seen on Canoncito School road near Tohajiilee, New Mexico, north of Interstate 40. I arrived on scene and met with Laguna Police Department (LPD), Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office (BCSO), NMSP Sergeant Adam Sandoval, and NMSP Joshua Campos. At approximately 1544 hours, I gained visual contact of the black van. I activated my emergency equipment and initiated a pursuit. I requested spike strips on Canoncito School road and advised were headed south towards Interstate 40. The driver was driving erratic and dangerously. He dodged multiple spike strips and almost went off the road several times. The suspect drove west on Interstate 40. NMSP Officer Joe Najara was stationed on Interstate 40 just west of the 131 exit. Once the suspect turned from Canoncito School Road to merge onto Interstate 40 westbound, Officer Najara became the primary pursuing officer as I became secondary where I took over for communications through NMSP D-5 Dispatch. The pursuit continued westbound for approximately 27 miles reaching speeds up to 105 MPH. At approximately milepost 126 westbound, Cibola County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) attempted multiple times to intercept the pursuit. CCSO stayed in the right lane and in between myself and NMSP Officer Najara for the remainder of the pursuit. At approximately the 103 milepost, the suspect turned right (North) and drove north over fences into the dirt. I continued to follow but lost visual of the suspect vehicle. I drove over fences in rough terrain but eventually reached a road. It was New Mexico Highway 124 southbound. I observed the pursuit had ended and multiple officers approaching the van. It appeared a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) had been conducted. I exited my patrol unit and received information from CCSO all three suspects had been arrested and accounted for. I advised NMSP dispatch.
