On April 17th, 2024, officers in Ohio responded to a call reporting a man in a red Ford Fusion threatening children with a gun in a neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers located the red Ford and observed the male suspect in the driver’s seat and a female passenger beside him. Officers ordered the suspect to put his hands up; however, the man immediately became argumentative. The suspect questioned the officers' authority and refused to comply with their orders to exit the vehicle. Despite multiple commands to exit the vehicle, the suspect continued to argue, insisting he had done nothing wrong and demanding to see a supervisor. Officers informed the suspect he was being detained as he was being investigated for Menacing with a Firearm. The suspect denied any menacing behavior, claiming children had thrown items at his car and that he had stopped and yelled at them. The suspect continued to resist, threatening lawsuits against the officers and arguing about his rights in an open-carry state. The officer told the suspect backup officers were en route, as he requested for a supervisor again. Backup officers arrived at the scene, and after a prolonged standoff, the suspect turned off his vehicle but still refused to exit. Eventually, he was taken to the ground, placed under arrest, and handcuffed. The female passenger also resisted arrest, resulting in officers using pepper spray. Both suspects were transported to jail.
