On Monday, July 24, 2023, University of Illinois Police officers stopped to investigate an unattended vehicle left running in a no-parking zone on Green Street. The suspect exited a nearby McDonald's and immediately began yelling at the officer. After refusing to roll down her window or turn down her music during the citation process , the suspect threw the ticket on the ground and walked back into the restaurant, leaving her car in the tow zone. When officers initiated a tow, the suspect returned and physically pushed past an officer to re-enter the vehicle. She climbed from the back seat into the driver's seat to prevent the tow. As officers attempted to remove her, she actively resisted, braced her legs against the frame, and kicked one officer in the leg. During the struggle, the suspect’s wig was pulled off. A supervisor arrived and threatened the use of a Taser, at which point the suspect was pulled from the vehicle. She continued to tense her arms and anchor her feet under the car to prevent being stood up. She was eventually secured and charged with Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Obstructing Justice.
