On February 12, 2023, officers responded to a Broward County check-cashing business after its verification department flagged a stolen U.S. Treasury tax refund check with a face value of $15,000. Both individuals inside presented fraudulent Florida identification — and gave names that did not belong to them. In this legal analysis, we examine four constitutional questions raised by this encounter: ✅ Was the detention legally valid? ✅ Was the biometric fingerprint identification constitutional? ✅ Was Miranda delivered correctly? ✅ Is a spontaneous post-Miranda admission that implicates a third-party co-conspirator admissible? Case law referenced: • Terry v. Ohio (1968) • Graham v. Connor (1989) • Hayes v. Florida (1985) • Illinois v. Gates (1983) • Berkemer v. McCarty (1984) • Missouri v. Seibert (2004) • Duckworth v. Egan (1989) • Rhode Island v. Innis (1980) • Hoffa v. United States (1966) • Brady v. Maryland (1963) Florida Statutes analyzed: §§ 831.02, 817.02, 901.36, 777.04, 918.13 This footage was analyzed for educational purposes. Case outcome unknown at time of publication. #BodycamFootage #LegalAnalysis #AuditTheAudit #PoliceBodycam #CheckFraud #FloridaLaw #MirandaRights #FourthAmendment #TreasuryFraud
