On May 5, 2025, In Los Angeles California, Highway Patrol officers stopped an intoxicated speeding driver on the 405 Freeway the driver was clocked at 90 mph. After pulling the vehicle over, the officer could smell the distinct smell of alcohol. A DUI investigation was conducted and the officers obtained breath samples of with readings of 0.133% at 0503 and 0.130% at 0506, well above the legal limit in California. Due to the driver’s probation status and prior DUI history, officers placed him under arrest and booked him into the LAPD Van Nuys Station Jail. Instead of towing the vehicle, CHP officers secured and parked the car safely in a nearby neighborhood trying to help the driver out and not impound his car.
