Sergeant Lafave’s Report: On Friday April 12, 2024 at approximately 0221 hours, I, Sergeant Lafave, was on duty in full uniform displaying my badge of office, and in a marked NMSP patrol vehicle within the County of Bernalillo, State of New Mexico. At this time, I was on the right shoulder of WB Interstate 40 near milepost 154 when I observed a white vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lane of Interstate 40. I activated my emergency equipment, caught up with this vehicle near milepost 153. I entered the paved median and drove towards this vehicle as it slowed and was traveling on the shoulder. I blocked this vehicle in using the push guard. The female driver attempted to reverse, striking another NMSP units push guard before stopping. A high risk traffic stop was conducted without incident. The vehicle is a white AUDI passenger vehicle. I exited my patrol car and made contact with the female driver and sole occupant, later identified as Jaclyn Archibeque (Defendant) and i explained the reason for our contact. While speaking with Defendant I smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from Defendants breath as she spoke and observed her eyes to be bloodshot and watery. I asked the Defendant how much she had been drinking and she admitted to consuming three alcoholic beverages prior to this traffic stop. Based on my observations, I had Defendant submit to a series of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFST's). Following these tests and based on my training, experience, and observations, I observed Defendant to display signs of impairment and I determined she was unable to continue to operate a motor vehicle safely. At 0221 hours Defendant was arrested for driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor, placed in steel handcuffs that were fitted and locked for her safety. Defendant was read the New Mexico Implied Consent Advisory and verbally agreed to be tested. I checked the interior of her mouth which was clear of any foreign matter. She was then transported to the New Mexico State Police office in Albuquerque and after a 20-minute deprivation period (0221- 0246 hours), Defendant provided two valid breath samples into the IR8000 instrument that were at or above the per se aggravated limit of .16. The Defendant was transported and released to the Metropolitan Detention Center without incident.
