What started as a speeding stop on a Florida highway ended with two arrests, a Louisiana extradition warrant, and a woman recording herself obstructing justice — convinced her footage would make her rich. On July 11, 2024, the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office pulled over an SUV doing 95 in a 65. Inside: marijuana products, four children in the backseat, and a passenger with an active felony warrant out of Louisiana for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer. LEGAL ANALYSIS: The driver's sister arrived on scene and told officers that Florida had changed its probable cause laws — that odor of marijuana alone was no longer enough to authorize a vehicle search. She was wrong. That law does not exist. Florida courts continue to recognize odor of marijuana as probable cause for a warrantless vehicle search. What followed was three direct warnings to return to her car. She came back each time. Officers arrested her for obstruction of justice and resisting arrest without violence under Florida Statute 843.02 — a first-degree misdemeanor carrying up to one year in county jail. CASE BREAKDOWN: Deorian (front passenger) was arrested on a confirmed Louisiana extradition warrant for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer. He also had five THC concentrate vape pens — each a separate third-degree felony under Florida law. Deputy Lynn exercised significant discretion, honoring his word not to charge the driver on the marijuana items after she cooperated. The sister, arriving to pick up the children, left in handcuffs — and her own recording became part of the evidence. KEY MOMENT: "This is about to be a money maker for me. I got lots of petty money." — said during her own arrest. ⚠️ Content Advisory: This video contains body camera footage of a physical arrest. Viewer discretion advised.
