🎥 In today's documentary, we report on an incident that occurred in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico on May 1, 2026. On that date, police responded to a 911 call from the manager of a local hotel. According to the manager's written statement, a 67-year-old guest had become aggressive during a checkout dispute over the bath water — and then retrieved a pistol and told the manager he would shoot him in the head. What responding officers did not yet know was the identity of the guest: Dan Stoddard, a longtime New Mexico Republican politician and current candidate for the Sandoval County Commission. Officers found the Stoddards heavily intoxicated. Stoddard was detained and placed in handcuffs but not arrested. Police temporarily confiscated his firearm — described in the report as a short-barreled five-shot revolver — and transported the couple to another hotel rather than allow them to drive. The hotel manager declined to press charges. The District Attorney's office later declined to pursue the case. Stoddard has publicly denied threatening anyone, calling the incident "a nothing burger." Court records reviewed by Breaking Bodycams show this is not Stoddard's first recent encounter involving alcohol and a firearm. In a separate December 2024 incident, Stoddard was arrested at his home in Rio Rancho; the charges and associated protective orders in that case were ultimately dismissed. This is the body-worn camera footage from the officers who responded to the May 1 call. 📍 Location: Truth or Consequences, NM 📅 Incident date: May 1, 2026 📂 Source: Official police and court records ⚠️ Viewer discretion advised.
