After a late-night police pursuit in Key Largo, an off-duty Miami-Dade officer tells deputies he is a cop — and argues that they should take him home. The deputies have a different answer. This edited account follows the June 12, 2022 encounter with Donovan Rojas: the stop, the arrest, the discussion of the pursuit, his repeated requests for legal advice and the breath-test warning. Rojas disputes the fleeing allegation and says he pulled over when he noticed the police lights. His explanation and the deputies' responses are included. The supplied records describe charges of driving under the influence and fleeing or eluding. No breath-test result was obtained. The records used for this video do not establish a final court outcome; charges are allegations, not convictions. Police-supplied redactions remain. This is an edited selection of the supplied footage. Strong profanity and protected personal information are censored.
