A traffic stop quickly turned into a police pursuit after Oklahoma City officers attempted to stop a Dodge Challenger reportedly performing burnout donuts on a city street. On Saturday, August 8, Oklahoma City Police observed a red Dodge Challenger performing burnout donuts near Southwest 31st Street and Miller Avenue. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The Challenger slowly drove onto Southwest 30th Street and briefly stopped, allowing a female passenger to exit the vehicle. The driver then accelerated away, reaching speeds of more than 60 mph, prompting officers to pursue. The pursuit lasted only moments before the Challenger reached Southwest 30th Street and Agnew Avenue. The driver failed to stop at two stop signs and collided with two other vehicles. Despite the collisions, the Challenger continued for a short distance before eventually rolling to a stop. Officers approached the wrecked vehicle and removed the driver, identified as 36-year-old Jaramy Yeats, before taking him into custody. According to the information provided, Yeats was charged with: Eluding a police officer Driving while license revoked Reckless driving Causing an accident resulting in injury Operating a vehicle involved in an accident without insurance Failure to stop at a stop sign He also had three outstanding felony warrants.
