A series of calls to police about a man repeatedly returning to a Denver residence eventually led to a confrontation involving a knife and an officer-involved shooting. Denver Police had received multiple 911 calls concerning 26-year-old Wilson Guerra Bravo, who was reportedly returning to a residence near East 51st Avenue and Washington Street. According to investigators, Bravo had repeatedly knocked on doors, looked through windows and allegedly harassed people living at the property. Police had previously responded to the residence several times. During an earlier contact, officers reportedly warned Bravo not to return. Despite that warning, police received additional calls concerning his presence at the property, with the information provided stating that there were seven calls to police before the final incident. Shortly before noon on July 5, another 911 call reported that Bravo had returned. When officers arrived, they located a man matching the caller's description and observed that he was carrying a large kitchen knife. As officers attempted to make contact, Bravo walked away before running from the officers, resulting in a foot pursuit. According to police, an officer briefly lost sight of Bravo behind a building. The officer then continued the pursuit after Bravo allegedly lunged toward him with the knife. The officer repeatedly ordered Bravo to drop the weapon and warned him that he would be shot if he failed to comply. The confrontation reached its final stage near East 50th Avenue and Washington Street. Police said Bravo suddenly turned toward the pursuing officer and charged while still holding the knife. After issuing additional commands to drop the weapon, the officer fired six shots. Bravo fell to the ground and responding officers immediately moved in. Police recovered a 10-inch kitchen knife, placed Bravo in handcuffs and began providing first aid. Paramedics subsequently transported Bravo to Denver Health Medical Center for treatment of gunshot wounds. Following the shooting, investigators announced that Bravo faces a charge of attempted homicide in connection with the alleged attack on the officer. The officer involved joined the Denver Police Department in 2024 and, according to the information provided, had no previous officer-involved shootings. He was placed on a non-line administrative assignment while the investigation continues. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Colorado State Patrol, Denver Police Department's homicide unit, Denver District Attorney's Office and Office of the Independent Monitor are reviewing the circumstances surrounding the shooting. This video is presented for documentary, informational and public-interest purposes, providing context surrounding the police response and the events captured on bodycam.
