buymeacoffee.com/BlueLineLens Officer McCue's patrol on Carr Avenue quickly escalated into a tense encounter when he observed Derrick Walker Jr. stopping an SUV and reaching inside. Bystanders flagged down the officer, reporting Walker was "causing problems." Upon approach, Walker stumbled, fell, and exhibited signs of severe intoxication, including incoherent speech, erratic behavior, and a white film around his mouth. A critical moment arose when McCue discovered and removed a knife from Walker's waistband. As additional officers arrived, Walker's resistance intensified; he pushed away Detective Sheehan and vigorously struggled against being handcuffed, eventually requiring multiple officers to secure him. He continued to yell obscenities while being placed into the police vehicle. The incident continued at police headquarters, where Walker remained combative, refusing to provide identification and yelling continuously. Given his uncooperative and erratic state, emergency medical services were called. Ultimately, due to his persistent combativeness, Walker was transported to Bayshore Medical Center by officers and admitted, where he was secured to a hospital bed. Walker was charged with Disorderly Conduct - Improper Behavior/Creating Hazardous Condition, CDS - Under Influence w/o Prescription, Resisting Arrest/Eluding - Preventing Officer from Effecting Arrest, Hindering - Hinder Own Apprehension, and Contempt - Disobedience to the Order of the Court. This challenging arrest also revealed that the SUV driver, Jamier Bland, did not know Walker, and an anonymous resident had previously found Walker inside a vehicle that wasn't his, though no charges were pressed for that specific incident by the resident at that time. These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
