Escambia County, Florida – April 20, 2025 Deputies responded to reports of a disturbance occurring in a wooded area after multiple witnesses reported seeing a male repeatedly pushing a female to the ground and striking her in the head. According to witnesses, the woman could be heard screaming as bystanders attempted to intervene. During the confrontation, the male allegedly swung at the witnesses and attempted to assault them while holding a knife. With information that the suspect may be armed, deputies entered the wooded area in an attempt to locate both individuals. Officers eventually encountered the man and woman riding bicycles through the woods. Due to the reported weapon, deputies immediately drew their firearms and issued verbal commands. During the encounter, the woman continued screaming and claimed she was suffering from an asthma attack. While deputies were assisting the female, the male fled on foot, allegedly dropping a knife during his escape. The suspect retreated to a nearby trailer, barricaded himself inside, and refused to comply with commands to surrender. Deputies later obtained a warrant and took the male into custody. He was ultimately arrested for domestic battery and resisting an officer without violence. The involved witnesses declined to pursue additional charges.
