🚨 Dangerous driver on Interstate 44, Crawford County, Missouri (Oct. 17, 2022) Troopers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to multiple 911 calls about a black 2021 Chevy Traverse driving recklessly on I‑44 — speeding, swerving into oncoming lanes, forcing cars off the road, and even driving the wrong direction. Several callers also reported what looked like a physical disturbance inside the vehicle. At 1019 hours, Trooper Townsend spotted the SUV flying down the interstate at 110+ mph, fishtailing and nearly hitting multiple vehicles. When he activated his lights, the driver — Krystal Courtright — accelerated to 132 mph and continued fleeing for nearly 17 miles. The driver repeatedly failed to maintain her lane, made unsafe passes, and ignored traffic control devices. Due to the extreme danger to the public and reports of possible violence inside the vehicle, the pursuit continued. The chase ended when the driver attempted to exit at the 195 WB ramp, lost control, and slammed into a highway information sign, disabling the SUV. Troopers removed her from the vehicle and took her into custody. During questioning, the driver made incoherent statements, claiming she was “saving the souls of the children” and fled “to free all the souls.” She admitted to using marijuana earlier that morning, and empty prescription bottles were found inside the vehicle. She was transported for a blood draw and then booked into the Crawford County Jail on a 24‑hour hold.
